- Ahura Mazda: the lord of the universe, who represents all good things. He is the one true God.
- Angra Mainyu: Ahura Mazda's rival, who represents all bad things. He tries to overthrow Ahura Mazda's rule.
- asha: the "truth" -- all things that are real and honest
- assimilated: when one group of people must give up their culture, and try to blend in with another groups culture
- Avesta: the Zoroastrian holy book, that contains all scripture and liturgical (holy) works by Zoroaster
- Ethics and Morality: the values that someone or a group of people live by
- Dastur: the leader of Zoroastrian gatherings, also a teacher of the traditions
- divine: something very holy, that God himself has created
- dualism: the belief in two supreme beings or gods
- Fire Temple: the place of Zoroastrian gatherings, house of the sacred fire, site of most rituals
- free will: the belief that we have the freedom to choose our own paths, destiny is not what guides our future
- Gathas: a large and important portion of the Avesta (see Sacred Scriptures)
- heaven: the place where your soul goes in the afterlife if you have done good deeds throughout your life
- hell: the place where your soul goes in the afterlife if you have done bad deeds throughout your life
- kutsi: a string made from 72 smaller strings, one for each chapter of the Yasna. Presented during the Navjote
- monasticism: a way of life that involves you to give up your worldly possessions and devote yourself to spiritual work
- monotheistic: the belief in only one god
- Navjote: the coming of age ritual for children aged 7-12 (see Sacred Rituals)
- persecution: bad treatment of someone or a group of people based on their differences including race or religion
- polytheism: the belief in many gods
- prophet: a messenger sent by the gods or a god to inform the people of a divine revelation
- Purgatory: the place where your soul goes in the afterlife if you have done an equal amount of good deeds and bad deeds throughout your life, where you can apologize or
- sacred fire: the sacred fire is an important part of any Fire Temple, it must be fed 5 times a day and remain lit, as well it represents
- Sassanid Dynasty: the last Iranian empire before Islam became it's main religion, between the years of 224 CE and 651 CE
- sudreh: an undergarment to remind Zoroastrians of their modesty, that they must wear their whole lives, presented during Navjote
- theological: relating to the study of the nature of God and religious belief
- Yasna: Zoroastrianism's principal act of worship, as well as the name of the primary liturgical collection of Avesta texts
- Vendidad: the portion of the Avesta relating to the expulsion of demons
- Yasht: the section of the Avesta containing many hymns of praise
